Quartz Crystals Thermal Feedback Laptech 2012 - May 2012

A good OCXO requires a very well designed thermal control system to control the applied heat to the quartz crystal. Similarly, a good TCXO requires an efficient and accurate measure of the exact crystal temperature to compensate accurately for thermal drift.
Typically a thermistor or thermocouple is attached to the Quartz Crystals case but the case temperature is always out of sync with the crystal itself to a certain amount.
LapTech Precision has developed techniques to improve this feedback loop by utilizing chip size thermistors within several of its packages.
This is accomplished without loss of performance in aging or Q factor.
This enables oscillator engineers more options when designing their oscillators as very accurate feedback on quartz crystal temperature and especially useful in directly heated resonators where fast temperature feedback is important.
Currently this option is available in the following quartz crystal packages:
